I'm fundraising for a great cause!
In February 2024, I started a fundraiser for mental health and suicide prevention challenge, in honour of a work colleague and mate, Ben.
Ride4Ben: A Mental Health Challenge was created.
Ben was a genuine gentleman, a proud father.
At work Ben was the face of Woolworths George Town, customers would line up in his checkout, just to talk to Ben, even if other checkouts were free.
Ben was a well loved community member, and was always being praised on social media platforms
In 2024 I set out on the challenge to raise awareness and vital funds for RUOk?. The challenge was to ride 200km in one day, visiting Woolworths stores around my area.
Started at 6am and didn't finish til 8:30pm at night.
Throughout the whole fundraiser, the community support is what made this fundraiser, total raised was over $30,000!
We did raffles, merchandise, markets and of course the Ride4Ben Challenge.
2025 has arrived, and now we are preparing for a new challenge.
2024 was all about my mate Ben, but not just for him, was for everyone, whom we know, or don't know, whom has ended there life.
2025 is all about Mate's.
We have changed the name to help solidify to include everyone.
Ben is and always will be at the front of this new beginning.
Ben was a mate, to me and you....and would of been a mate if you didn't know him either.
Mate is the Australian Way of greeting, and checking in on each other. Mate is about being there for one way or another.
Mate isn't limited to friends and work colleagues, it's about everyone, including Sporting clubs, Schools etc.
We all continue to check in on each other, and as we do in Australia, we always call somebody our Mate.
Closer to 2025 I will announce the new challenge, please follow, and let's not forget about our mate's.
Talk soon, Mate!
