I have decided to fundraise for R U OK? to help spread their message and help prevent suicide.
About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day.
For every death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide.
89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.
I want to help change these numbers.
R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.
Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.
By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

We're back on!
Tuesday 28th JunOctober 8, 2021 - It was supposed to be the big day!! After months of build-up, promotion and training the 100km run for RUOK was on. Instead, I was waking up in ICU after almost a week in an induced coma because of breathing complications from contracting Covid. I got lucky. Others are not so fortunate. And though I am not completely back to the level of fitness and health I was prior to Covid I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to enjoy the simple things in life including being able to run again.
Mental health impacts all of us. We have all been touched or affected by it in some way either directly or indirectly. For me personally, this is so much more than just about running 100kms around Albert Park Lake. It’s about connecting with others and creating more awareness about Mental health issues. That it’s OK not to be OK. And that it’s ok to ask a work colleague, friend or family member if they are OK?
I am so thrilled that the business is getting behind this event again and opening it up to everyone in the business to participate. Just by having a conversation about Mental Health you are already making a difference!!!!
