At St Rita’s College, we know the strength of our community comes from the care we show for one another. That’s why we’ve decided to fundraise for R U OK?, to help spread their important message and play a part in preventing suicide.
Every day in Australia, about 8 people die by suicide. For every life lost, another 30 people will attempt to take their own life. And 89% of us know someone who has tried.
These numbers are heartbreaking — and as a community built on compassion and connection, we can help change them.
R U OK?’s vision is a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide. Their mission is to inspire us to meaningfully connect with the people around us and support anyone who may be struggling with life.
By simply taking the time to ask, “Are you OK?” — and truly listening — we can help others feel supported long before they reach a crisis point.
