Every day in Australia, an average of 8.8 people take their own lives. Each year, around 55,000 Australians make a suicide attempt. More than 7 million Australian adults are close to someone who has died by suicide or who has tried to take their life. These numbers are heartbreaking - but together, we can help change them.
That’s where R U OK? comes in. Every dollar raised helps R U OK? deliver free resources that give people the confidence to recognise the signs that someone is struggling, start a genuine conversation, and offer meaningful support.
And it works. Research shows that people who are exposed to the R U OK? campaign are up to 6x more likely to reach out to someone who might be going through a tough time. In fact, 90% of people who are regularly asked “R U OK?” say they feel more supported, connected, and cared about.
