24 HOURS FOR A PURPOSE 2026
đź–¤ 24 HOURS FOR A PURPOSE 2026Â
THE 24HR Story
Every year our community comes together for something bigger than fitness.
We call it 24 Hours for a Purpose a physical mental, and emotional challenge designed to raise awareness and start real conversations about mental health.
Because in Australia, we lose 8–9 people every single day to suicide.
And around 42% of Aussies will battle a mental illness in their lifetime.
So, we created a workout that hits both numbers
-
8 rounds across 24 hours (one every 3 hours)
-
42 reps of each movement, symbolising the daily battle so many face
The Workout:
42 Squats
42 Push-ups
42 Sit-ups
1.6km Row
1.6km Bike
1.6km Run
Repeat. Every 3 hours. For 24 hours.
We can’t just switch off mental health SO for 24 hours, we don’t switch off either.
We stay at the gym. We sleep on the floor. We eat together.
We play board games, run Mario Kart tournaments, read, and talk deep into the night.
It’s raw. It’s real.
And the conversations that happen during these 24 hours?
They hit harder than any workout we do all year.
This isn’t about fitness.
It’s about connection.
It’s about showing up for yourself, and for the person next to you.
Because when we push through hard things together
we remind each other that we’re not alone.
That sometimes, talking and moving can save lives.
This year marks our 6th annual 24 Hours for a Purpose.
And we’d love for you to be part of it.
You can:
Join the challenge — complete the full 24 hours or even a few rounds.
Donate or sponsor — every dollar raised goes directly to mental health support initiatives.
Spread the word — share the message, tag a mate, and help us keep these conversations alive.
This is more than a workout.
It’s a movement.
A community standing strong for those who can’t.
Join us. 24 Hours for a Purpose 2026.
Let’s get after it Together.

Our Why 🤍
Saturday 5th Sep💜Why We’re Doing 24 Hours for a Purpose
This year, Andi and I are taking on 24 Hours for a Purpose at Purpose Fitness Adelaide, raising funds and awareness for R U OK? It’s the first time we’ve been able to take part at Purpose Fitness, after being away for work in previous years.
We’ll complete 8 rounds across 24 hours, one every 3 hours, with each round including:
42 squats • 42 push-ups • 42 sit-ups • 1.6km row • 1.6km bike • 1.6km run
The 42 reps represent the 42% of Australians who will experience a mental illness in their lifetime. But the 24 hours is about much more than the workout. We stay together at the gym, eat together, sleep when we can, laugh, talk and keep showing up for one another. It’s about connection, community and creating conversations around mental health.
This is something that means a lot to both of us. Through our careers in the ADF, nursing, health and fitness, we’ve spent a big part of our lives looking after other people. We both strongly believe that looking after our mental health should be a priority and should be just as normal as looking after our physical health.
We’ve also both experienced the loss of friends to suicide, and those people and their stories stay with us. It’s one of the reasons we believe so strongly in checking in, having the uncomfortable conversations and genuinely looking after the people around us.
We also love the Purpose Fitness community and what Rusty has created, a place where people come to train, but leave with friendships and a community that extends well beyond the gym.
So for 24 hours, we’ll keep moving, keep talking and keep checking in.Â
If our efforts help start even one conversation that might not otherwise have happened, then every squat, push-up and very tired 3am km will be worth it.
