K’s for R U OK? challenge!
This July, I’m making a commitment to run every day and clock my K’s for R U OK? I’ve decided to run a specific 4.09km daily for the 31 days of July, which is the equivalent to running just over 3 marathons!
As many wouldn’t know sadly this year in September it marks 10 years since my Dad took his own life. The physical pain of doing this challenge is nothing compared to the mental pain of losing him.
I was recently reminded of Dad as I was standing behind a young girl & her dad queuing in Maccas (Mc Donalds). They both ordered the same dessert, m&m McFlurry’s. It reminded me of when Dad & I used to order two caramel Sunday’s on our daddy-daughter date nights we used to go on occasionally together. Tears filled my eyes as I saw her smile & beam up at her dad to say thank you - No child should ever have to grow up with the loss of a parent. It also reminded me of the hole I had when I lost mine.
So for this reason I’ve set out to raise eleven hundred dollars ($1,100) which represents the 11 years I got to have with my Dad, a celebration of all he was & still is to me! Please get behind me so we can together stop suicide rates, especially in young men/dads, because no daughter or son should ever have to grow up without their Dad.

Day 1Thursday 2nd Jul Holy Cr** !! I am soo rusty at this, my carves & shins are aching SO bad! Hit the 4.09 km’s for day one and down deep once my heart rate had settled & my lungs didn’t feel like they were about to burst, it felt good to be doing something for a heartfelt cause! Not keen to wake up tomorrow morning all sore & stiff but let’s take on day two! Share
