My target 42 kms

I'm fundraising for a great cause!

After running the Melbourne  Marathon in 2019 I said I would never do one of those again as the pain sucked a lot. But I have decided to run the Porto Marathon to challenge myself again and also to help R U OK? to spread their message and help prevent suicide.

About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day.

For every death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide.

89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.

Number of suicides in Australia have increased from 2,098 in 2004 (creation of Facebook/social media) to 3,318 by 2019.

I want to help change these numbers.

R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.

Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.

By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

Thank you so much for your support, together we will make a difference.

Porto Marathon complete!

Wednesday 17th Nov
The Porto Marathon was a stunning run - under 7 bridges along the river up to the old town and back to the coast-line.
Fortunately it was a very flat run, unfortunately it was very hot as the race started quite late at 9am (and it was 20°C by 10am)
My goal was to come in under 4hrs this time which I managed by just 16 seconds!
A small cut on my foot got infected during the race making it quite painful so was hobbling around for a few days afterwards but got antibiotics and am on the mend now.
Thanks again to all the donations - with 5kms of the race to go I was in a lot of pain and had to dig deep.
Knowing that I had all your support and the donations towards this great charity helped me through!

24hours pre-race!

Saturday 6th Nov
Hey all,
Just wanted to drop an update - currently in Porto with family.
Have done a pre-race jog in this beautiful city to scope out the streets.
Sun is shining and it’s a cool 12 degrees, perfect conditions to run 42kms!

Thanks so much for all the donations so far it’s really appreciated and will help lots of people.

Thank you to my Sponsors
