I'm fundraising for a great cause!
On 27 Feb, exactly 20 years ago I received a call that changed my life forever. I was told that my dad passed away. He had taken his own life, as life got too much for him.
At the time I never knew what he went through, and I never got a chance to say goodbye.
I struggled to process the news for months after his death and I struggled mentally. To cope with my emotions, I started running which is pretty big as I've never been a runner before but it helped me.
Over the last 2 months, I have started running again but this time I would like to use my running to do something good.
On 27 Feb 2022, my sister (who will be running in South Africa) and I (running here in Australia) will each be running 20km to not only remember our dad but also raise money for suicide awareness. We would love for you to support us by either join us for a run on the day, add a supportive message on this page or donate to our fundraiser.
Suicide prevention is a cause that means a lot to me.
We have started this page both as a tribute to our dad and as a beacon of hope in the fight against suicide.
R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.
Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.
By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.
We will all go through, are going though, or been through dark times in our lives and I want you to know that there is help out there for everyone. Not only that, we all have to look after each other. Our mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brother, colleges and Friends.
Thank you so much for your support, together we will make a difference.
Thank you to my Sponsors
