I’m taking on the K’s for R U OK? challenge!

This July, I’m making a commitment to run every day and clock my K’s for R U OK?

I’m taking on the K’s for R U OK? challenge to stay connected, develop consistent habits, and create a world where we're connected and protected from suicide.

Please support my efforts by donating, and together let's get everyone asking R U OK?, starting conversations and changing lives!

My Achievements

My Updates

Day 29

Wednesday 29th Jul
2 days to go!! Ran with these legends today who are also taking on this challenge. 175kms down!

Day 25

Saturday 25th Jul
My family are honestly the best. I cannot begin to thank them for all the love and support over the last 25 days. Have a look at dads donation & comment, talk about your heart strings being pulled 😰. 25 days down got me to 151kms, the end is so close and despite the up and down emotions during the journey I’m so glad I engaged in this and have been able to advocate for mental health.

Day 18

Saturday 18th Jul
I’m not a runner so my aim by the end of this challenge was to be able run the whole 6kms without stopping. I didn’t run the whole way today but I managed to knock 10 minutes off my total by running every second or so lap around the oval. My shins and calves have been so sore so we decided laps of the oval was the way to go today. Can’t believe I’m over 100kms down and over half way!!

Day 14

Tuesday 14th Jul
Titled my strava day 13, clearly not sure what day it is 🤣 I’ve walked with some amazing people having some amazing conversations over the past few days. Started placement yesterday hence my delayed posts as I’ve been preparing for that. Can’t believe we are almost half way through the month! I did struggle for a couple of days, it gets quite emotional when you’re walking by yourself and you have all your thoughts processing through your head. Just need to reassure myself it’s a great cause. Over the next few days I’m going to do 3km before placement and 3km after placement so I’m not running out of time after school. Thanks for all the love & support so far. 85kms down, 101 to go 👊🏽

Day 8

Wednesday 8th Jul
Struggling to keep up with daily posts but I can happily share that I haven’t missed a day of walking! This morning was picture perfect and shared with Aunty Pam. 48kms down, 138 to go 👊🏽

Day 6

Monday 6th Jul
Another 6km done and dusted. 36km down, 150 to go 👊🏽

Saturday 4th Jul
Early mornings with mum & dad at the waterfront. 24 kms down, 162kms to go 👊🏽

Friday 3rd Jul
Getting up early is definitely justified when the sky looks this pretty. Smashed my k’s out while it was still dark this morning and as I was 20 mins in the colours in the sky started shining through. 18 kms down, 168 kms to go 👊🏽

Friday 3rd Jul
Realised nice and easy that I can’t be walking 6kms around home, 159m elevation definitely had my legs hurting. There’s so many beautiful places near by that I can’t wait to discover and spend part of my day walking there. Mum came half the way today, my families support is so warming. 12 kms down, 174kms to go 👊🏽

Wednesday 1st Jul
Smashing out day 1 with my dad. We had a great chat during our walk about mental health and how important it is to keep smiling each and everyday. 6km down, 180km to go.

Why this challenge?

Sunday 28th Jun

Mental health has been a subject that has touched my heart for many years now. I’ve suffered my own demons and have watched many of the people I love suffer too. This July I’m going to walk / run 6 kms a day to advocate for R U OK’s July challenge ‘Clock the K’s for RUOK?’ “It’s not about how fast or far you can go. It’s about connection, commitment and consistency”.

I’m doing this for myself, for my dad and for all the people in my life who have experienced their own struggles. I’m doing this for my uncle Paul and a number of family friends who thought suicide was their only option out. I’m doing this for the beautiful high school students in Geelong that we have lost in the last 7 or so months to suicide.

I’m here to advocate that it’s ok to not be ok and there are so many people out there willing to help. Reaching out can be the hardest thing but it’s worth it.

If there’s only one thing you take from this post please remember you are worth it and there’s help available 🦋✨
