24Hrs For A Purpose is back again in 2022!!
Our unique physical challenge:
- In teams of 4 -
Every 3hrs for 24hrs - (each team member completes)
- 1.7km Run
- 1.5km Row erg
- 1.5km Bike
- 45 Push-ups
- 45 Sit-ups
- 45 Squats
(Key rule: All team members must remain within the single event location for the entire 24 hours. You can't easily escape Mental Health - so we'll stay locked in the same way!) #LOCKEDIN24
This event was was created together with Purpose member Miles Lindberg and the Purpose Coaching TEAM - Joshy, Helen and Rusty to raise awareness for mental health, mental illness and suicide prevention, start conversations, and to raise funds to support R U OK? in the incredible work they do through education, resources, encouraging meaningful conversations and all work to prevent suicide!
Here are some confronting statistics that forged the event:
- About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day.
- For every death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide.
- 89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.
- Suicide was the 15th leading cause of death in Australia in 2020.
- 45% of Australian's will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime.
We want to help change these numbers - and with your help and support WE CAN!
R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.
Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.
By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.
