I'm fundraising for a great cause!
I have decided to take on the challenge of taking part in the Indian Pacific Wheel Ride (IndiPac), a 5450km self supported bicycle ride beginning in Fremantle and finishing in Sydney to help R U OK? to spread their message, to prevent suicide and to encourage as many people as possible to focus on their emotional well being and that of those around them.
I would like to see people take some time out of their day to reflect on their emotional well being and check in on those around them. Spend some time doing something you enjoy or head down to your local cafe and grab a coffee, relax and reflect on how you are feeling or perhaps invite a friend and share your time with them.
By asking RUOK? we can sometimes have a far greater impact on peoples lives than we could ever imagine.
About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day.
For every death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide.
89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.
I want to help change these numbers.
R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.
Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.
By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.
