Sydney Build has decided to fundraise for R U OK? to help spread their message and help prevent suicide.
For workers in the construction industry, suicide seems to be a part of the reality of working in the industry. According to figures from the University of Melbourne and Deakin University, we lose a construction worker to suicide every second day across the country – which is more than 190 per year.
Sydney Build would like to show support by working with charities to raise awareness about the mental health and wellbeing of those who are in the construction industry.
R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.
Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.
By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.
