Tackling more than footy together 💛
At Sunshine Coast Junior Rugby League, we know being part of a team is about more than what happens on the field. It’s about looking out for your mates, checking in and making sure no one faces the tough times alone.
That’s why we’re raising funds for R U OK?, a national suicide prevention charity that encourages Australians to stay connected and start meaningful conversations with people who may be struggling.
The statistics show why those conversations matter:
- In 2024, 3,326 Australians died by suicide, according to the latest revised Australian Bureau of Statistics figure.
- Suicide was the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15–44.
- In 2024, 70 Australian children aged 5–17 died by suicide, with more than 87% of those deaths occurring among 14–17-year-olds.
- More than three-quarters of Australians who died by suicide were male in the initial 2024 data, which is particularly relevant in a sporting community like ours.

Tuesday 7th Sep Saturday 11 September will see Sunshine Coast Junior Rugby League hosting the final RISE session for 2021 and the kids finish it off with a game of footy!In support of RUOK? Day, we will be hosting a sausage sizzle, with 100% of sales being donated to RUOK?
This event has been supported by local businesses, such as IGA Baringa, be sure to pop in for all your local groceries! Bunnings Caloundra also donated a heap of gear for our new Nirimba facility as well!
SC Falcons will also be hosting U16 Cyril Connell trials, so come on down, its going to be a great day of footy! Share
