EJSC Supporting the Mental Health of Our Community

By Edgeworth Junior Soccer Club (EJSC) Join Me

I'm fundraising for a great cause!

Edgeworth Junior Soccer Club (EJSC) have decided to fundraise for R U OK? to help spread their message and help prevent suicide.

About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day.

For every death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide.

89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.

We want to help change these numbers.

R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.

Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.

By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.

Thank you so much for your support, together we will make a difference.

Mental Health Awareness Month at EJSC – The Power of Showing Up for Each Other

Thursday 19th Jun

At Edgeworth Junior Soccer Club, we believe that football is more than just a game – it’s a community, a connection, a support network. This July, we’re recognising Mental Health Awareness Month with a simple but powerful reminder: spend time with each other.

Over the past few years, we’ve felt firsthand how deeply mental health can affect our players, coaches, families, and friends. We’ve lost great people to silent struggles. And while we may never fully understand the battles others are fighting, we can show up for one another. We can be present. We can listen. And sometimes, just being there is enough.

This July, you’ll see a sea of yellow socks on the field at our home games. These socks are more than a uniform change – they’re a sign of solidarity, a show of support for those who might be struggling, and a visible commitment to start conversations that matter. Because at EJSC, we don’t just play as a team – we care as a team.

So this month, we encourage every player, coach, and family member to:

  • Check in with your teammates, even with a simple “How are you doing?”
  • Take a moment before or after training to talk to someone – not about soccer, but about life.
  • Share a laugh. Share a story. Share a seat on the sideline.

Let’s make time for each other – not just because it’s Mental Health Month, but because this is who we are as a club.

If you or someone you love needs support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. And remember – asking for help is never a weakness. It’s one of the bravest things you can do.

Together, we’re stronger. Together, we’re EJSC.
