Why am I doing this???
Why would someone want to run 350k in 7 days in the Gold Coast Hinterland?
Running is my therapy. I enjoy a challenge and I love being out in the forest.
How does this link in with RUOK? At Christmas time in 2017, I lost my 22 year old son Luke to suicide. He was a high performing kid in every way. Bright, handsome, great at AFL, popular with everybody and he had just finished his plumbing apprenticeship - he had everything to live for. Or so it seemed. Some things can never be understood.
I cannot help my son or bring him back, but I can ask you to join me in asking RUOK?
A conversation can change a life.

I have decided to take on this challenge to help R U OK? to spread their message and help prevent suicide.

About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day.

For every death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide.

89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.

I want to help change these numbers.

R U OK?’s vision is of a world where we are all connected and protected from suicide.

Their mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and support anyone struggling with life.

By inspiring people to take the time to ask, “Are you OK?” and listen, we can help people who are struggling with life to feel connected long before they even think about suicide.
