Fight for Mental Health (MUBxCSAxUMMSS)

I'm fundraising for a great cause!

An article from Axios presented studies that ranked construction, transport, production, maintenance, management, sales, and administrative occupations with the highest rates of suicide in the U.S. (Knutson, 2015).

In the Australian context, one in five Australians are predisposed to a mental health illness in any year (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2009), and suicide is the leading cause of death among Australians aged 15 to 44 (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2021).

The purpose of this event is to showcase a charity boxing match on the campus to raise funds and awareness for mental health issues in our society.

Melbourne University Boxing (MUB) has approached the Construction Students Association (CSA) as the industry representative for the “most affected” and the Medicine Students Society (UMMSS) as the “future problem solver” for this great cause.

This event will be sponsored by several corporations in the industry who will make substantial contributions to the charity page.

The event will be promoted through a poster competition sponsored by the Design Student Society (DES), and the audience will use the posters to purchase our charity tickets for “R U OK?”.
