I'm fundraising for a great cause!
I have decided to take on this challenge to help R U OK? to spread their message and help prevent suicide.
About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day.
For every death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide.
89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.
I want to help change these numbers - and would love your help!
As everyone knows, I'm a bit of a boozehound.
However, I've set myself a challenge, to abstain from alcohol for *100 days.
With this challenge, I hope to raise awareness of the RU OK? campaign and to reduce the number of people who attempt suicide.Â
I am also fundraising, in memory of my beautiful friend and colleage, Rebecca Egan. This girl was pure sunshine, yet succumbed to the darkness, on September 3 2020.
Together, we will make a difference.
** 100 days within 110
One month didn't seem very inspiring but 100 days in sequence did not appeal (I want a few vinos for my birthday and a couple of other events!)
So I've allowed a few 'cheat' days but I will be reducing my regular consumption big time - 100 dry days will indeed be a challenge!
The countdown starts September 6th and finishes on Christmas Eve.
