MOVE for Mental Health with Sk Bodyworks

I'm fundraising & raising awareness for both mental health & the importance of exercise for mental health!

Sk Bodyworks has decided to collaborate with RUOK, Aus Active (The peak body for the exercise & active health sector within Australia) & Susan Templeman (federal member of parliament for Macquarie) in efforts to raise awareness for both mental health & the importance of exercise for mental health.

There is a critical connection between exercise & mental health. The purpose of this MOVE for mental health event is to highlight & emphasis the importance of physical activity in supporting mental well being within the local community.

There was a study done (by the University of South Australia - which was published globally) that has concluded that exercise is MORE EFFECTIVE than medicine and was devised to help doctors improve management of patients with mental disorders such as depression, anxiety and psychological distress.

Australia is ranked 140th out of 146 countries for the highest physical inactivity levels for adolescents and over 56% of Australian adults are not meeting recommended physical activity guidelines.

About 8 people take their own lives in Australia every day and for every 1 death, it’s estimated another 30 people will attempt suicide. 89% of people report knowing somebody who has made an attempt.
